More Summer Fun To Be Had at M-BC Parks & Recreation!

School is out for the summer here in Berkeley County (and soon to be, if not already, in surrounding counties) and no doubt the kids are excited for the break! However, we know that it doesn’t take long for them to get bored. Fortunately, we have a variety of ways to help keep your children active and entertained this summer.

If you check out our website (best place is to always look under the ‘Downloadable Forms’ tab to see what we are registering for at that time) you can see we have a number of camps covering different sports and activities.  For example, we have basketball (for boys and girls), volleyball, Lacrosse, golf, tennis, dance and more!  These are predominantly week-long, focused camps that are an hour or two in length. These are camps that are typically held in the evening hours. The forms on our website will provide you with all of the details such as dates, times, cost and what your child or children may need to bring with them.  If  you are looking for something during the day and more of an all-day type camp, then be sure to look into our Berkeley Adventure Summer Day Camps.

Maybe you are wanting a place to cool off on the hot days and for that we have our pools located at War Memorial Park and Lambert Park.  The War Memorial Pool offers water features in a zero-depth area for the younger kids and plenty of swimming and pool play space for older kids and adults.  It is at War Memorial that we also hold our swim lessons (you can sign up online or in our office, but hurry and spaces are becoming more and more limited!) as well as our senior adult and adaptive swim time during weekdays.  Lambert Pool provides plenty of swim space and a slide.  There is a daily, per person fee for entry into the pool or you can opt to purchase a family or individual season pass.  If you plan to visit the pool often, the season pass may be a more cost-effective way to go.  The pool staff can help you with more information and purchasing a pool pass.

Summer is a great time to get your children involved in Parks & Recreation activities.  If you have questions or would like to see if there are still spaces available in a camp or program of interest, please call our office at 304-264-4842.  Our website to view forms and see descriptions or even register online is  See you this summer at Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation!
